GLOBALISATION: SOCIO-ECONOMIC PERSPECTIVE: PROSPECTS OF THE MARGINALIZED SECTIONS
Abstract
This paper underscores the need to examine the complexphenomenon of globalisation and to evaluate its impact on thevulnerable sections of the society, such as the dalits, tribals and women.Globalisation is the new form of capitalism wherein maximisation ofprofit is the main objective. The vulnerable sections of the society havenot benefited from the economic opportunities that globalisation hasbrought in because they do not have access to the resources that are
necessary to benefit from them. On the contrary, the new economicpolicy based on market economy that has accompanied globalisationhas been exploitative of the vulnerable sections and has worked againsttheir interests. The new economic policy under globalisation haswidened the gap between the rich and the poor. It is the responsibilityof the state to take effective steps in this situation in order to ensurethat the vulnerable sections are not deprived of their basic human needs.
