Abstract

Increased urbanisation and the subsequent growth in population have made waste management a social issue that raises serious concerns. The graveenvironmental and health hazards of waste to society became the burdenof city administrators across the globe. To address this issue effectively, a
close cooperation is needed between government, the private sector and citizens, especially in developing countries.
